Initially, when we embarked on this venture, I believed I would have ample time to write posts and keep our progress updated. It seems I underestimated the amount of work required to get this place operational!
The year 2025 was a whirlwind of highs, lows, victories, and setbacks, but we certainly learned a great deal!
We started this year with some big reno's to the outside of our home which included: Installing Hardie board siding over the entire 200 ft long main building (HUGE SHOUTOUT to Curtis @ Steamline Exteriors) & Installing our 60 solar panels and backup battery. (HUGE SHOUTOUT to Kevin @ Sunward Solar)

The interior renovations included a complete kitchen remodel, new countertops in both kitchens, a full bathroom renovation, new water filtration systems, installation of a propane water boiler as a backup, a complete overhaul of the plumbing throughout the entire property, new electrical systems throughout, comprehensive painting, and improvements to the East side, among other enhancements.
Outside, we successfully cultivated our main garden area by constructing rows and raised garden beds, dug numerous trenches for drainage, built our chicken coop, revitalized our pasture field, and restored our numerous apple trees to health.

Since we had to build our garden from the ground up, the tasks of improving the soil, adding compost, creating rows, and installing irrigation were only completed by May, which is quite late in the season. Consequently, our entire crop was planted later than usual.
Our raised beds were finished by June, and the pepper greenhouse was also planted much later than planned.
The FARM STAND was launched and officially opened in May. We were selling our plant starts, sourdough bread and treats and welcomed our first few vendors.
May long weekend things were starting to get busy.
We planted a wide variety of crops to determine what would flourish in the area.
Market Season kicked off in June with Music on the Bay on Thursday nights, and Fridays at the at the Sicamous Night Market, where we enjoyed the music and got to connect with our wonderful community.
By September, we were overwhelmed by our success. The harvest season was hectic as we worked to pick, preserve, and sell everything.
Jenn and her kids found a place super close, and although we were sad that they left the farm, we are thrilled that they are still super close and continue to be part of our Farm'ily.
In 2025 we added a flock of baby chickens, 4 runner ducks, and our beloved polar bear Zeus.
We are heartbroken over the loss of some of our animals, and although losing animals is part of farm life, it still hurts. Scotch the cat, Estell and Stella the chickens, and Huey and Louie the ducks. Brutis & Thelma - Barn Cats. Rest in Peace.
